Meet the Color Works Crew
Jill McKenny My number one goal as an owner/stylist is
making sure each and every client leaves the salon feeling and
looking better than when they arrived. I have been in the industry
since 2000 and I still feel that the most important part of being a
great stylist is education. I have attended various classes and
seminars specializing in areas from color technique to cutting
and styling. Along with the hands-on classes that we hold in our
own salon, my continuing education has taken me throughout the
country, including trips to Chicago, New York City, and cities
across the state of Michigan.
My ability to listen and understand my clients’ wants and needs, along with my own unique creativity, makes me a great stylist (and the occasional “therapist!"). Whether it’s multi-dimensional highlighting, color glazing, or just covering a few grey hairs, my forte is hair color. Along with a great haircut and style, the perfect hair color is the “icing on the cake."
I am always accepting new clients and look forward to making your next color service or haircut and trip to Color Works Hair Company the very best that it can be!
Hillary Benjamin I have been in the industry for over 13
years and still very much enjoy doing hair! I feel as a stylist/owner
it is important to continue my education yearly so I never fall
behind and can always deliver the most up-to-date style for you.
I do not specialize in one specific area of hair because I love
to do it all. We would love to see you in our salon and hope that
your experience is over the top wonderful!
Beverly Ten Eyck Being in the industry since 1981
has given me years of experience and an incredible amount of
education. I’m a previous salon owner for 12 years, and award
winning stylist and an educator for Sebastian in both hair and
make-up for 6 years.
Education is a second passion both receiving and giving.
The first is making everyone I touch feel fabulous about the way
they look.
Deana West I’ve been a hair stylist since 2003 and love
what I do. I graduated from Douglas J. Aveda institute in East
Lansing. I have attended several hair shows and classes all over
Michigan and some in Cincinnati, Chicago, and New York City.
Making people look and feel good is truly what I love. I feel as
though I have an outgoing personality and will do what I can to
satisfy you!
Tim Sinclair I have been in the hair industry for 11 years
and enjoy doing color, cuts and updo's. I have been to many hair
shows and classes - which have helped me grow as a stylist -
and I love bringing back the latest trends.
In those 11 years, I've enjoyed going through life experiences
with many of my clients; getting them ready for their Big Day or
just getting them ready for their every day.
I'm looking forward to the many years to come in the industry,
the new styles and the new clients! And I'm looking forward to
seeing you in the future!
Justin Kroell is a locally grown guy, born in raised in rural
Alma, MI before moving to inner city Mount Pleasant. He started
in the industry at the age of 16 when he entered M J Murphy
Beauty College. He became a licensed cosmetologist in 2003.
Justin's talent was quickly recognized with his first salon when
he became an in store educator. Having a love of education and
the classroom setting, he attends many educational events every
year around the nation. Justin became a Wella Certified Master
Colorist in 2008 and is currently working in other educational
programs as well.
He enjoys eating excessive amounts of Hagen Daas ice cream, but then exercises ridiculously to rationalize it. Justin spends much of his time away from work in Chicago. Unfortunately he is handicapped in many social situations by his poor high-five skills, but in his enduring spirit he does not let that hold him back. Justin has been at Color Works Hair Company since its opening in June of 2007, everyday looking forward to his work and the camaraderie shared between his coworkers after having his morning coffee.
Jamie Harmon I'm absolutely a beauty industry addict!
Anything to do with hair, make up and styles, I'm all over it. I'm
fresh to the industry with just over a year of experience under my
belt, loving every minute of it.
I attended M.J. Murphy Beauty College in Mt. Pleasant and
graduated in July 2009. I have gone to a couple of hair shows,
including trips to Chicago, Las Vegas and down-state for airbrush
make up. Making each and every client feel as good as they
possibly can is an amazing feeling.
With my fun, upbeat and adventurous personality, I can transform you to any look and
style you can think of! I'm eager to meet all of my new clients and give you the
experience you deserve!
Shelly Lilly Being in the industry for almost 20 years, I
have studied and perfected some of the most creative techniques
introduced. I have gained extensive knowledge in trends and
products by continually updating my education with industry
leaders in New York, Las Vegas, Cancun and Chicago.
No one style fits everyone - therefore, I use all aspects of my
training to find the right look for each person. Technique, texture,
color, products and personal interaction are the artistic tools that
I draw from to customize your look! I take pride in my skill, and
believe that when a client leaves my chair, their new look is a direct reflection on me. This passion gained me the title of "appearance specialist" by my loyal clients and friends. I am now specializing in hair extensions.
I love knowing that the special attention I give helps my clients feel good about themselves. I enjoy meeting new clients and am confident you will love the creative energy here at Color Works!
Lauren Gault I have been in this industry since 2008 after
graduating from Douglas J. Aveda Institute in East Lansing. Even
though I've only been in the industry a short while, I have still kept up
my training with classes throughout the years, and still plan on
attending many more.
I think it is very important to keep up on all the new trends and
techniques so I can keep my clients happy! My goal for anyone
sitting in my chair is to make sure they look and feel even more
beautiful than when they came in!
Sherrie Robinson I have been in the hair industry for over
8 years now. I have been all over the further my education including,
New York, Detroit, Chicago, Los Angeles and Cancun. I really enjoy
what I can do for people. I love to give a great eyebrow arch to go
with the color and cut that suits you best!
It takes a lot of work behind the scenes to make Color Works Hair Company run as smoothly as it does. The combined efforts and patience of Marcie, Arielle and Melissa make the jobs of the stylists a lot easier. From answering the phones, making confirmation calls, juggling nine stylist's schedules, maintaining the salon, and making our clients feel at home, this trio does it all.
Melissa Stanley joined the Color Works team in 2009.
She attends Central Michigan University and is studying Special
Education. After school, she plans on becoming a teacher. With
Melissa's energetic personality and bright smile, she's always
willing to help behind the desk and ensure our clients have a
wonderful experience. She is extremely grateful to work with such
an amazing team!
Jamie Crockett Jamie joined our team in January of 2011.
She is our full time go to person who helps holds the salon together.
On top of the receptionist duties she also has taken on several of
the managerial tasks that make this salon run. Jamie is a wonderful
mother of five children which we believe is why she's so great at
multi-tasking. With her warm smile and great attitude she has been
a pleasant addition to our team.
Kaitly Fouty Hey everyone my name is Kaitly Fouty. I am
twenty years old and am a new addition to the Color Works team.
I am currently assisting the stylist and learning as much knowledge
as I can before I start behind the chair full time. I truly enjoy coming
to works every day and everybody has been very friendly and helpful
with my training. I really enjoy all aspects of the hair world, but
especially like coloring and formal styling. I am looking forward to
taking some new classes and trying out what I have learned on clients.
So please stop in some time to see me!
